Creating a Hawaiian Cultural ‘Live-In’ Center At A National Park?

December 23, 2009

The clearing of the site by a school group in August.

View the progress of a Native Hawaiian Group, ‘Makani Hou o Kaloko Honokohau’  (the new winds of Kaloko-Honokohau), as they explain the meaning and respect they have for Kaloko-Honokohau as they attempt to recreate a lifestyle practiced by their ancestors. This group is in the process of creating a ‘live-in’ center for native Hawaiians to practice Hawaiian culture within the boundaries of a national park.  This video was shown as part of  a presentation at the National Association of Interpretation conference in November.
