Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park Repaving Project is Complete!
The major repaving project of Jaggar Museum, Kīlauea Visitor Center, all parking lots and all park roads that began last August 22, 2011 is complete!
The project was part of the park’s ongoing facility maintenance.
Repaving was necessary to improve drainage, accommodate an expanded viewing area and to extend the surface’s life cycle by approximately 20 years.
Landscape Architect Bill Leek did an outstanding job coordinating the project, keeping us informed with daily updates and making every effort to keep the visitor impact as minimal as possible. Thank you Bill!
We also thank you for your patience if you were impacted by the construction. Please be sure to come back and enjoy our smooth roads, increased parking and improved viewing areas.
