Another Day, Another Gathering of Sharks…

December 5, 2012

The following videos were taken this afternoon at Pu’ukohola Heiau National Historic Site on the Big Island of Hawaii. Over the past few days, many sharks have been congregating in Pelekane Bay. Yikes! Those were REALLY close to shore. Please tell me this is highly unusual.

It is fairly unusual to have so many sharks. However, we often see blacktip reef sharks close to shore. Although the odds are against people being attacked, we all need to remember that When we step into the ocean, we do indeed step into the ocean’s food chain! Aloha
