Splash Into the 2013 Whale Season Today!
Splash Into the 2013 Whale Season
To start off the humpback whale season, Pu’ukohola Heiau National Historic Site and the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary invite the public to attend their special kick-off event this morning: “Splash Into the 2013 Whale Season.”
From 9:00am-11:00am, you can take part in the season’s first whale watch. Enjoy watching these awesome creatures through spotting scopes and binoculars, while learning all about them from the Sanctuary’s knowledgeable staff and volunteers.
Then join Justin Viezbicke from 11:00am to noon as he offers a special look into how the National Marine Sanctuary is helping to ensure that humpback whales continue their recovery from the brink of extinction. Learn the in’s and out’s of how the Sanctuary staff track whales and how they help free whales from marine debris.
Regularly scheduled whale watches will then be offered at the park every Friday from December 21 to to March 29, 2013 (may be extended into April depending on amount of whale activity).
We welcome all of you to join us…if you can’t, then be sure to subscribe to this site so you can get all the updates, photos, and videos during this year’s whale season! If you have any questions, leave a comment or contact Pu`ukohola Heiau National Historic Site. Aloha!
