Some Areas of Hawaii See Positive Change in Drought Conditions

February 7, 2013

Current drought conditions for the State of Hawaii. As you can see, leeward portions of the state are experiencing the worst conditions, while the windward side of Hawaii Island and most of Kauai are fairing the best. As always, we encourage everyone to be safe and help prevent fires. Besides avoiding obvious things like throwing cigarettes on to the ground, seemingly harmless actions like parking a car on the side of the road in grassy areas can actually start fires (from the car’s heat igniting dry grasses). Watch this map to see the changes that have taken place over the past 12 weeks.
