Manuia le Aso o le Fu’a (Happy Flag Day)!

April 16, 2013

Tomorrow marks the 113th anniversary when the United States and American Samoa united. On that day, both flags were raised on Sogelau Hill in the village of Fagatogo in what is called Flag Day. Flag Day is similar to the Fourth of July in the United States.

Festivities will include a special program attended by the governor, congressman, local residents, and visitors. It’s a time for celebration of Samoan dances and songs. Villages, businesses, and government offices are also covered in red, white, and blue decorations.flag-day-image
