Ranger JZ from Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park talks about the physical metaphors and spiritual manifestations of the fire and volcano goddess Pele.

Replacing an older volcano god ‘ai la’au the forest eater, the Pele legends can be traced back to Tahiti. More than just a story, many people can trace their family lineage back to Pele. Throughout the Hawaiian Islands are located Wahi Pana- Storied Places where the exploits and trails of Pele live within the land.
