Pu‘ukoholā Heiau National Historic Site launched their new W.A.V.E. (Wa`akaulua Authentic Voyaging Experience) program on Thursday, February 13, 2014. Canoe rides will be available at the park soon.

Supported by funding from Hawaii Pacific Parks Association, this unique program was opened up with protocol and a dedication ceremony at Pelekane Bay. Kanu o ka Aina students presented hula, chants and lei to the canoe then helped Ho‘okele (captain) Hualalai carry the canoe into the ocean. This educational experience was brought to life in the hands of the youth of Hawaii. CLICK HERE for more photos of this special event!
