The Na Pe`a traditional canoe sailing program, under the Nakoa Foundation and Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail, took their first distance journey. After a cleanup service project in the morning at Keauhou Bay, three canoes set sail escorted by their mama ship, Kinikini. Wind conditions were a bit tricky and the ocean a little choppy but everyone successfully pulled into Kamakahonu Bay in Kailua Kona three hours later.

One observer onshore said “the kids were so focused!” Congratulations to the youth, their kumu and all the supporters of this program.
