Pacific Islander Heritage Day 2014

Celebrate the unique Pacific Island cultures this Saturday at Pu’ukohola Heiau National Historic Site! (NPS)

To help kick off National Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (May), Pu’ukohola Heiau National Historic Site will be offering a special program celebrating traditional Pacific Island cultures: “Pacific Islander Heritage Day.” This special event will take place Saturday, April 26 (10am-3pm) and will feature various cultural demonstrations and activities representing Micronesia, Palau, Samoa, Marshall Islands, Hawaii, and other island cultures. Activities will include hands-on crafts, cultural demonstrations, canoe rides, games, music, dancing, special presentations and more! This event is being sponsored by Hawai’i Pacific Parks Association, the University of Hawaii at Hilo Pacific Islander Student Center and Micronesians United-Big Island.
