Wheel of Fortune on location at Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park

May 16, 2014

Guess who was in the park this week! Wheel of Fortune hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White filmed on location in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park on Wednesday for a series of shows being taped on Hawai‘i Island in September. Although Kīlauea caldera and the Halema‘uma‘u Crater eruption were obscured by rain, Ranger Rebecca saved the day and gave Pat and Vanna a tour of Jaggar Museum. Pat joked that Wheel of Fortune, which first aired in 1975, has been on the air longer than Kīlauea has been erupting, and he’s right – in terms of the current eruption. The summit eruption from Halema‘uma‘u, where the well-known stars were supposed to tape the segment, has been erupting nonstop since 2008, while Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō vent in the remote east rift zone, has been erupting since 1983.

Plan B!

Are you ready for your closeup?

Not that she needs it, but Vanna’s stylist adds a little gloss to Ranger Rebecca.

Roll 'em!
